Molly (Michaels) Cowan, 90

Molly (Michaels) Cowan, 90, of Haverhill, died Friday, July 21, at Country Center for Health and Rehabilitation, Newburyport.

She was born in Bangor, Maine, Dec. 10, 1926, daughter of the late Irving and Anne (Richards) Michaels. Educated in the Lowell school system, Cowan attended the former Wilson School where she studied to become a lab technician. A member of Temple Emanu-El, Haverhill, and its Sisterhood, Cowan was an active participant of the Temple’s cookbook and belonged to the Temple bowling league.

She was the wife of the late Merle H. Cowan and her survivors include two daughters, Judith Cowan of Newburyport, and Linda Cowan of Stamford, Conn.; two sons, Larry Cowan and his wife Janet of North Andover, and Joe Cowan and his wife Pat of Londonderry, N.H.; sister; Elizabeth Frux of Brooklyn, N.Y.; brother; Melvin Michaels and his wife June of Rockport, 11 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Monday afternoon, July 24, at 1, at H.L. Farmer and Sons funeral home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Burialis in Children of Israel Cemetery, Haverhill. Contributions in her memory may be made to Project Home Again, 439 So. Union St., Bldg. 2, Lawrence, MA 01843, or Temple Emanu-El, 514 Main St., Haverhill, MA 01830. A memorial observance takes place at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Janet, following the burial through 9 p.m. Monday.
