Haverhill’s police department invites residents of all ages to join in the fun for National Night Out, a free evening of food, activities and entertainment on Tuesday, Aug. 1.

Held at Swaseys Field on Blaisdell Street from 5 to 8 p.m., the hot dog and hamburger cookout will also feature face painting, a dunk tank, music and inflatable amusements. Members of the Haverhill Police Department will be on hand to mingle with city residents.

Earlier this month, 46 police officers graduated from the Northern Essex Community College/Methuen Police Academy. Among them were Albert Betances, Kevin DeCarvalho, Katelyn Tully, David Rodriguez and Kevin Tracy, who will be joining the Haverhill Police Department.
