Boston Celtics Hall of Famer JoJo White to Speak at Haverhill Public Library

NBA Hall of Famer JoJo White, a 10-year veteran Boston Celtics player, is set to appear at Haverhill Public Library next month as part of the library’s latest free event offerings. White, a seven-time NBA All-Star, will meet and greet local residents alongside his biographer, Mark Bodanza, to promote his book “Make It Count” on Aug. 24. Tickets for the 7 p.m. event, held in the auditorium, can be reserved online.

In addition to its book clubs, children’s events and computer classes, the library will host the following activities for kids, teens and adults throughout the month of August. Aug. 1, 2 p.m.: Nature Nick brings back his amazing animal adventures show – and may have a few furry friends in tow! Recommended for ages 5+. (Held in the Auditorium)

Aug. 3, 7 p.m.: New England Mill Girls – Historian Doug Stewart will detail the history of these local pioneering women. (Held in the Auditorium; call 978-373-1586 x 608 to register)

Aug. 7, 7 p.m.: Zinio How-To – Library staff will instruct patrons on how to navigate the library’s free streaming magazine service. Attendees must have a Haverhill Public Library Card. (Online registration begins July 24 at 9 a.m.)

Aug. 8, 15, 22 and 29, 10 am: Joan Crawford Classic Movies – The library will screen classics including “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?” on Tuesday mornings. (Check online for specific titles)

Aug. 8, 6 p.m.: Coloring Club for Adults – All materials are provided for this hourlong drop-in session. Also held Aug. 26 at 2 p.m.

Aug. 10, 3 p.m.: Teen Task Force invites teens in grades 6-12 to earn one hour of community service credit by lending a hand with a small service project with peers, such as making pet beds or toys for the MSPCA. Project continues monthly. (Milhendler Room)

Aug. 10, 7 p.m.: Vacation expert Kristy Lacroix will host an informal Q&A about Viking River Cruises and share information about opportunities to explore Europe, the Far East and Russia.

Aug. 18, 3:30 p.m.: LEGO Fridays – All ages are welcome at this drop-in afternoon of fun. (Cavallaro Room)
