Methuen Police Identify 23-Year-Old as Fatal Accident Victim

The man killed in a Tuesday morning crash in Methuen has been identified by Methuen Police as 23-year-old Oscar Concepcion of Lawrence. His 31-year-old passenger is listed in critical condition at a Boston hospital.

Concepcion was driving a black Honda Accord east on Riverside Drive around 8 a.m. His car inexplicably crossed the double center lines, crashing head on into commercial trailer dump truck in the other lane. The Honda was pushed back across and into a red Acura MDX, police said.

The accident took place near Strathmore Road, Methuen, and Concepcion was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, identified as Sunny Faretra, of Burlington, was taken to Lawrence General Hospital and then medflighted to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The drivers of the dump truck and Acura were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Methuen Police were assisted at the scene by Methuen Fire and Rescue. The crash is under investigation by Methuen Police Officer Elvin Alarcon and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction.

Following the accident, westward traffic along Riverside Drive was detoured to Byron Avenue, while eastward traffic toward Lawrence was detoured up Burnham Road, police said.
