Haverhill Bicyclist Receives Injuries in Groveland Car Collision

A 42-year-old Haverhill man was injured Monday when the bicycle he was riding struck a turning car.

Groveland Police Chief Jeffrey Gillen did not identify the driver of the car or the man on the bicycle, but said the man was taken to the hospital by ambulance with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

According to a police report, a 32-year-old Rowley woman driving a 2008 Honda Accord was making a left turn onto Elm Park in front of a pizza shop. At the same time, the Haverhill man appeared not to notice the car and struck it on the right side. The man rolled over the hood of the car and landed on the other side.

Given the area where the crash occurred and the traffic at the time of day, police said, road congestion made it difficult for either person to see the other. The driver was not cited.
