Alfred E. LaPlante Jr., 92, Veteran, Worked at Senter Auto Supply

Alfred E. LaPlante Jr., 92, of Hudson, Fla., and formerly of Plaistow, N.H., passed away peacefully July 3, at Gulfside Hospice Care in New Port Richey, Fla. He was the husband of the late Ruby E. (Davis) LaPlante.

Born in Lynn May 29, 1925, he was the son of the late Alfred E. and Eva (DeBlois) LaPlante. He served with the U.S. Navy as a seaman 1/c during World War II, and as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era before his honorable discharge as a SSGT in 1964. Following his military service he joined Senter Auto Supply where he worked as a clerk for 18 years before retiring in 1988. LaPlante attended Kingston Congregational Church, and was a life member of Amvet’s Post 147 in Haverhill. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed following the NASCAR success of the Earnhardt family, New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.

LaPlante is survived by his children, Frances Hall of Epping, N.H., Roy LaPlante and his wife Diane of Farmington, N.H., Patricia Dennehy of Haverhill, Donna Noel of Wolfeboro Falls, N.H., Laurie Forand and her husband Robert of Hudson, Fla., with whom he lived; 27 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and brother Richard LaPlante of Haverhill. He was the brother of the late Midge Dolfe and Robert LaPlante

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Friday, July 14, at 10 a.m., at Dole, Childs and Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St. Burial to follow, with full military honors, at Atkinson Cemetery.
