Plug Pond, Haverhill’s popular swimming and recreational area, is open.
Recreation Director Vincent Ouellette said the pond reopened this morning after tests show elevated levels of E. coli bacteria had dropped back to safe counts.
Plug Pond was closed late last week after runoff from heavy rains brought contaminants into the swimming area—a relatively common occurrence, Ouellette said.
