97.9 WHAV’s first fiscal year with a full-service FM radio station ends Friday and, well, money is tight.
While the cost of placing the new FM on the air—engineering, legal, construction and equipment—was costly, keeping it on the air is a daunting proposition. Today’s 97.9 WHAV FM is a public radio station. That means it’s owned by you—the listener—and depends on listener memberships and business underwriting to keep going. Tom Bergeron, who began his career at WHAV in 1972, is among those asking for your financial support.
“The reason I’m here is to lend my support to what Tim and company are doing here at WHAV,” Bergeron said last week. “Go to the website, find out how you can support it at WHAV.net. Everything you need to know is there.”
