Steven J. Doherty, 58, Self-Employed Contractor

Steven_ DohertySteven J. Doherty, 58, passed away June 19, at Oxford Nursing Home in Haverhill surrounded by his family.

Born in Boston, he was the son of Patricia M. (Moore) Parlee and the late John L. Doherty. With his mother, he was raised by his stepfather, Frederick Parlee and was educated in the Billerica School system. He was a graduate of Billerica High School, class of 1976. He was a self-employed contractor in the truck driving industry and worked for various construction companies in the Merrimack Valley area. Doherty lived by his own rules, never letting his lifelong illness stop him from doing what he wanted to accomplish. He enjoyed being at home and spending time with his family.

In addition to his mother and father, he is survived by his companion of more than 17 years, Robin L. Howard of Haverhill; her children, Jessica Silva, and her husband, Joseph, of Haverhill, Jay Loycano, of Haverhill, and Anthony Loycano and his wife, Ashley, of Salem, N.H.; grandchildren, Haillie, Ryley, Giana, Ayva and Jacoby; siblings, Sonny Doherty and his wife Sinead of Glendale, Ariz., Diane M. Wentzell and her husband Clayton of Wilmington, Donna Flaven and her husband Gary of Nashua, N.H., David Doherty and his wife Maryanne of Glendale, Ariz., Lisa Carr and her husband Peter of Tyngsboro, Keith Parlee of Billerica, William Doherty of Glendale, Ariz., Ricky Parlee of Lowell, and Mark Parlee of Florida; and several nieces and nephews including his goddaughter Sharleen Gilbert.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours Friday, June 23 from 5 to 7 p.m., at Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. A funeral service follows at 7: p.m., in the funeral home. The family thanks the staff at the Oxford Nursing Home for their excellent care.
