Over the weekend, the Bradford home where 18-year-old Bryce T. Finn was shot and killed last week, was broken into by one or more intruders.
The incident adds another layer of mystery to the as-yet unsolved murder of the teen by a gunman the night of Tuesday, June 6. District Attorney Jonathan W. Blodgett’s office has said, “Investigators do not believe this was a random act,” but also declined to speculate on a motive for the killing.
A Haverhill Police incident report lists a “breaking and entering” at the 54 Rainbow Drive, single-family home Saturday, June 10, just before 4:30 p.m. The Haverhill Police Department’s Records Division said details of the house break cannot be released while the murder investigation continues.
“We’re aware of it. I can’t say anything further about whether its connected or not. It is under investigation,” Blodgett’s spokeswoman Carrie Kimball-Monahan told WHAV.
The house break, coming four days after the recent Haverhill High School graduate’s murder, is another anomaly for the usually quiet, middle-income neighborhood.
Finn was shot in the chest around 9:30 p.m., a week ago, when he answered his door. He was taken to Merrimack Valley Hospital—Haverhill where he was pronounced dead.
In a statement Saturday before the housebreak, Finn’s family asked for the public’s help in finding the gunman.
“Our son, 18-year-old Bryce Finn, passed Tuesday night following a senseless and tragic shooting,” reads a Saturday statement from his family. “Authorities are investigating the incident and we are asking anyone with information to please contact the Haverhill Police. Bryce was a gentle giant, a sweet and kind child who loved and was dearly loved by his family, friends and all who knew him. Bryce’s passing leaves and enormous hole in our hearts, our family and our lives. We respectfully request that we be left to mourn the loss of our wonderful boy in peace.”
Finn’s funeral was Tuesday.
