Haverhill’s Buttonwoods Museum is set to unveil a new exhibit featuring military artifacts from the Vietnam War and War on Terror, with the public invited to its opening reception on Friday, June 16.

The “Echoes from the Battlefield” exhibit showcases the collection of Ipswich resident Richard Barbato, a Bradford College graduate who served as a paratrooper in Iraq in 2003. He is also the Outreach Coordinator at Department of Veterans Affairs in Lowell.

Barbato’s exhibit was selected as the winner of the museum’s “Curate Your Own Exhibit at Buttonwoods” contest. His Buttonwoods collection will coincide with The Wall That Heals, a mobile replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. that will be on display from June 15 to June 18 at Haverhill High School.

“Echoes from the Battlefield” can be viewed at Buttonwoods Museum, 240 Water Street, Haverhill, from June 16 to July 8. Members of the community interested in attending the exhibit’s free opening reception on June 16 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. can visit Buttonwoods.org for more information.
