Carlene R. (Mathan) Rafferty, 81, Worked for City Purchasing Dept.

Carlene_RaffertyCarlene R. (Mathan) Rafferty, 81, of Bradford, died Tuesday morning, June 6, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill.

She was born in Worcester, Feb. 21, 1936, daughter of the late Charles and Barbara (Catanzaro) Mathan. Educated in the Haverhill school system, Rafferty graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1954. For more than 20 years she was employed in the purchasing department for the City of Haverhill. A longtime member of Sacred Hearts Parish, Rafferty enjoyed Bingo, shopping, rooting for the Red Sox and time spent with her grandchildren.

She was the wife of the late Leon R. Rafferty, who died in 1988, and sister of the late George Mathan and Anna Loftus.

Her survivors include a daughter, Susan Zuber and her husband William of Bradford, son, William Rafferty and his wife Susan of Newburyport; sister, Rosemarie Bowe of Fla.; five grandchildren, Jillian and Julia Zuber, Shane, Cara and Colin Rafferty; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation Monday, June 12, from 9:30 to 10:30, at H.L. Farmer and Sons Bradford Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 210 S. Main St., Bradford, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11, in Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Haverhill.
