Philip A. Howard, 51, Insurance Claims Manager

Philip_HowardPhilip A. Howard, 51, of Kingston, N.H., and formerly of Haverhill, passed away peacefully at home Monday, May 22.

Howard was the husband of Kerri (McDermott) Howard. He was born Sept. 23, 1965, in Haverhill,  son of the late Richard and Joan (Preble) Howard. He spent his early years growing up in Haverhill, graduating from Haverhill High School. Howard was a 1988 graduate of Merrimack College, North Andover, where he earned a bachelor’s in arts and political science, and was a member of the Nu Phi Kappa Fraternity. He dedicated more than 27 years to the insurance industry as an insurance claims manager. He enjoyed the music of Bruce Springsteen, time with his family and friends and golfing.

In addition to his wife of 10 years, Howard is survived by two brothers, Chris Howard and wife Marianne of Portland, Maine, and Matthew Howard of Lynn; his mother and father-in-law, Bob and Maureen McDermott; brother in law, Robert McDermott and wife Kelsey of Raymond, N.H.; nephews, Andrew, Tanner, Nathaniel, Jeremy, Robbie and Coner; nieces, Molly, Alison and Dania; many dear friends, including his Nu Phi Kappa Fraternity brothers of Merrimack College; and cats Domino and James. He was predeceased by two brothers, Geoffrey Howard and Andrew Howard, andsister Martha Howard.

A funeral mass at Saint Anne Parish, 26 Emerson Ave., Hampstead, N.H., was scheduled for this morning, followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Salem Street, Bradford.

Arrangements were under the direction of Grondin-Carnevale Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill, MA 01830.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Howard’s memory be made to The Jimmy Fund c/o The Dana Farber Cancer Institute P.O. Box 849168 Boston, MA 02284-9168.
