Freeman Street Park Named for Longtime Haverhill Religious Leader

Bishop Franklin W. Hobbs

The playground at the corner of Freeman and Washington Streets will bear the name of Bishop Franklin W. Hobbs and his Rehoboth Lighthouse Full Gospel Church.

City councilors renamed the playground in honor of Hobbs’ 60 years in ministry, 39 in Haverhill at the Calvary Baptist and Rehoboth Lighthouse churches.

Hobbs’ daughter, Katrina Everett, said the official recognition formalizes the church’s relationship with the little park next to the church.

Members of the church’s youth center keep the park clean and members look forward to beautifying the park with plants, with the help of Haverhill’s Brightside.
