Dale V. Deveau Jr., 55, Former Owner of Don’s Garage

Dale_DeveauDale V. Deveau Jr., 55, of Salisbury and formerly of Haverhill, passed away May 5, at Anna Jaques Hospital surrounded by his family.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of Dale V. and Antoinette M. (Walalis) Deveau. Raised and educated in Haverhill, he attended Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School. He was a talented mechanic and former owner of Don’s Garage in Haverhill. Deveau was also employed at Approved Auto in Plaistow, N.H., and Early and Sons, Bradford. He enjoyed fishing, fresh and salt water, especially on the Annisquam River. He loved to shoot pool and play darts with friends. He also liked to cook. His passing was unexpected, after a long struggle with alcoholism.

In addition to his parents, Deveau is survived by his son Nicholas D. Deveau of Haverhill; three sisters, Michelle Walsh and her husband Michael of Newbury, Susan Alakel and her husband Steven of Haverhill and Lisa Cronin and her husband John of Newton, N.H.; nieces and nephews, Ashley Deveau, Shane MacLeod, Thomas Walsh, Jack Cronin, Sophia Walsh and Ryan Walsh; and  companion Kerri Evans of Salisbury.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours Friday, May 12, from 3 to 6 p.m., at Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. A funeral service follows at 6, in the funeral home. Donations in his memory can be made to The Pelican Intervention Fund and/or The Pettengill House. The Pelican Intervention is a residential treatment and sober living program with a website at www.pelicaninterventionfund.org.
