Americo “Rico” Alvarado, 92, Auto Mechanic

Americo_AlvaradoAmerico “Rico” Alvarado, 92, of Haverhill and formerly of Jersey City, N.J., and Lynn, died peacefully with his wife by his side at the Hannah Duston Long Term Healthcare Center, Haverhill, May 2.

Alvarado was born June 22, 1924 in Salinas, Puerto Rico, relocated to the United States in 1954, and served his country during the Korean War as a corporal in the U. S. Army. He attended local schools and worked as an auto mechanic for a local car dealership. He was a member of St. James Parish, Haverhill, and he enjoyed gardening and tinkering with automobiles.

He leaves his wife of 66 years, Maria Theresa (Rivera) Alvarado; sons and daughters-in-laws, William and Patricia Alvarado of Atkinson, N.H., and Albert and Channa Ann Alvarado of Newton, N.H.; grandchildren, William Alvarado Jr. of Lynn, Vanessa M. Alvarado of Manchester, N.H.,  Maria A. Alvarado, Jazmin Alvarado, Americo “Rico” Alvarado, all of Newton, N.H., Scott Bouchard of Milford, N.H., Deanna Ziminski of Haverhill and Timothy Bouchard of Nashua, N.H.; along with several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to attend calling hours to celebrate his life Friday, May 5, from 6 to 8  p.m., at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. His funeral begins Saturday, May 6, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., in St. James Church, Haverhill.  Burial follows in Atkinson Cemetery, Atkinson, N.H.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be mailed to St. James Church, 6 Cottage St., Haverhill, MA 01830.  The family thanks the staff at Hannah Duston Long Term Healthcare Center for their efforts, care and dedication to Rico’s health and well-being during his stay with them.
