Haverhill residents who report a street pothole could win a gift certificate for simply reporting the road hazard.

Mayor James J. Fiorentini said Wednesday the city is looking for help from residents to ensure all potholes are reported and corrected. Those reporting the holes will be entered into a drawing and two winners will be drawn and awarded $35 gift cards donated by Casa Blanca Mexican Restaurant, 2 Essex St.

“We want to keep our streets clear of any dangerous obstacles and with the help of residents, we will fill every pothole within two business days,” the mayor pledged. He said potholes are common after each winter. The city Department of Public Works has already begun patching holes and expects to complete the work by May 19.

Fiorentini thanked the restaurant for donating the gift cards.

To report a pothole, e-mail the city at [email protected] or [email protected] or call 311 from within Haverhill or 978-358-1311 from outside the city.
