Sylvia Mary (Jodoin) (Rival) Gird, 84, Worked at Karelitz Wood Heel

Sylvia_GirdSylvia Mary (Jodoin) (Rival) Gird, 84, of North Chelmsford and formerly of Haverhill and Plaistow, N.H., died Sunday, April 30, at Lifecare Center of Merrimack Valley, Billerica.

Born, raised and educated in Whitefield, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Hector and Eva (Bergeron) Jodoin. She moved to Haverhill as a young woman and was employed at Western Electric Company, North Andover, and retired from Karelitz Wood Heel Company. A resident of Plaistow, N.H., from 1989 to 2011, Gird was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Parish, Haverhill, and the former Holy Angels Parish, Plaistow, N.H. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, motorcycling and driving her lawn tractor.  She loved to dance, especially the Polka with her husband Stanley.  One of the items that she was able to cross off her bucket list was a helicopter ride.

She is survived by her husband, Stanley Gird; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy L. (Rival)  and Danny Jones of Fort Myers, Fla.;  three grandchildren, Michael Porter, Christopher Nardone and Andrea Cabrera and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a sister, Pauline Goudreault and two brothers, George and Albert Jodoin.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet Thursday, May 4, at 1:15 p.m., at the Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, to form a procession to St. Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill for a graveside service at 2 p.m. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
