Mt. Washington Alliance Plans Health Fair This Saturday

More than 20 community partners gather Saturday, April 29 to provide on-site health screenings, information on health resources, a free lunch and family activities when the Mount Washington Alliance hosts a community health fair.

The event will take place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., at Haverhill’s Silver Hill Horace Mann Charter School and is open to all residents. A free shuttle will run two routes each hour to make the event accessible to more people.  The shuttle will have stops as listed on www.mtwashingtonalliance.org.

“I am hopeful that this event will empower residents to promote a culture of healthy living in Mount Washington while engaging with the rest of the community,” said Angie Estevez, director of the Mount Washington Alliance.

Holy Family Hospital and Polished Dental will provide general health screenings and dental screenings and meet individually with participants to explain their results and discuss ways to access the care they may need. The variety of resource vendors aims to present a larger picture of wellness, emphasizing the importance of health comprising of mental, physical and social aspects, organizers said.

Martin “Piragua,” who has operated a food stand at Lawrence’s Campaganone Park for more than 30 years, will be serving free Caribbean refreshments.
