pay for newsThis year’s downtown KidsFest, presented by the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce, will feature two stages of local talent, plenty of games and craft projects for children and food.

The free, annual event takes place Saturday, May 13, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Riverfront Cultural District. In case of rain, KidsFest takes place the following week.

“There will be lots of fun and interactive activities including face painting, martial arts and much more!” said Beverly Donovan, president and CEO of the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce. Businesses and organizations are also expected to present information on safety, health and wellness, special needs, education, child care, and other family-related topics. There will be art projects children can make and take home, inflatable fun, origami, balloon animals, character meet and greets and other activities.

A highlight of the day’s events is the Haverhill Idol singing competition, where finalists in the Junior and Senior divisions compete to be the next Haverhill Idol. Winners will perform at the 25th Annual Christmas Stroll.

“We not only have one stage to highlight local talent,” said Melissa Seavey, the Chamber’s event coordinator, “but two stages to showcase all the best talent that Haverhill has to offer.”

Planning, vendor selection, event coordination and logistics are underway. Those wishing to play a role, sponsor or become a vendor, call Seavey at 978-373-5663 or email [email protected].
