Eight people are believed to be displaced after a house fire early this afternoon at the corner of Main and Howard Streets.

Haverhill firefighters quickly got the fire under control at the mixed-use office and residential building. The Red Cross has responded and trying to find temporary homes for residents.

City records indicate the 355 Main St. building dates back to 1900 and is owned by Douglas R. Locke. The building formerly housed a consignment shop on the first floor.

This is a developing story.
