Community Action Invites Students to Apply for Scholarships

Haverhill’s Community Action plans to award $1,000 scholarships this summer to three area students.

The Gerald Goldman Memorial Scholarship Program, named for an agency executive director who died in 1995, provides $1,000 each to a graduating high school senior, HiSet recipient and college student.

To be eligible scholarship applicants must live in Haverhill, Amesbury, Newburyport, Salisbury, Groveland, Georgetown, Boxford, Rowley, Newbury, West Newbury or Merrimac. Students must supply proof of enrollment in a full-time college program and/or demonstrate in writing their acceptance in a college program. HiSet applicants must have received a HiSet Diploma and show acceptance into a college program.

Applicants must also provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher or professor, complete a 200- to 500-word essay on how their college education helps them enhance the principles of Gerald Goldman in their own lives or how their continuing education will make a difference in their own communities. Applications are by May 15.
