Roscoe F. Jenkins, 88, Drove School Buses in Retirement

Roscoe_JenkinsRoscoe F. Jenkins, 88, of Haverhill, passed away Wednesday, April 5, at Lahey Clinic, Burlington.

He was born in Enfield, Conn., June 10, 1928, son of the late Melvin H. and Ethel (Mortimer) Jenkins. Jenkins’ family moved to Bradford when he was just two months old and was raised on the family farm on Boxford Road. He was educated in Haverhill and was employed at Stop & Shop for 20 years, and 19 years at Busfield Oil. After retiring he drove school bus routes for the Haverhill and Pentucket school systems. He was a former member of Pentucket Kiwanis and enjoyed the outdoors including gardening, hunting and horseback riding.

He is survived by his wife Joan E. Corbett; six children, Roscoe F. Jr. and his wife Sandra of Haverhill, Barbara Lee and her husband Keith Derusha of Dover, N.H., Brenda C. and her husband Chris Christopher of Sandown, N.H., Bryant M. and his wife Debra of West Newbury, Barry H. of Manchester, N.H., and Shawn T. of West Newbury; 12 grandchildren, including Jeremy C. Jenkins who was his constant companion and partner in crime; a great grandson; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his nine siblings.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Sunday, April 9, from 2 to 5 p.m., at H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St. Haverhill. His funeral service takes place Monday, April 10, 11 a.m., in the funeral home. Burial follows in Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford.
