Riverside Bradford League Begins Baseball Season on April 22

The Riverside Bradford Baseball League will open its 2017 season with a 10 a.m. ceremony on Saturday, April 22 in Riverside Park.

Gregory Deschenes, league president, said roughly 500 children ages 5 through 12 will play on 46 teams. More than 110 volunteers and a dedicated Board of Directors keep the league operating, he said.

This year, the league will expand to offer a new division for children with physical disabilities. The program, called Buddy Ball, will begin in April and run for several weeks. The Buddy Ball teams will pair children with and without disabilities. Deschenes said the league is excited about the new venture, which expands the number of children who will be able to participate in recreational baseball in Haverhill.
