George F. Perkins, 73, Worked for New England Telephone

George_PerkinsGeorge F. Perkins, 73, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer, April 3, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Joseph B. and Muriel B. (Kershaw) Perkins. Raised and educated in Haverhill, he was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1961. Perkins served his country in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. He was employed for 40 years with the former New England Telephone Company and Avaya until his retirement. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and children. He liked to golf and loved being with his family.

Perkins is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda M. (Lupi) Perkins of Haverhill; daughter, Lisa A. Perkins of Waltham; two sons, George F. Perkins Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Edward J. Perkins of Haverhill; brother, Donald Perkins and his wife Joanne of Natick; two sisters, Harriet Sue Barlow and her husband Roy of Norfolk, Vir., and Barbara Lagasse and her husband Victor of Londonderry, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph B. Perkins Jr., and two sisters, Elaine Demerrit and Edith Guerin.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours Friday, April 7, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services are Saturday, April 8, 10 a.m., in the funeral home. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery, Salem Street, Bradford. Donations may be made in his memory to Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital, 145 Ward Hill Avenue, Bradford, MA 01835
