Robert A. “Bobby” Carnevale, 82, Korea, Vietnam Veteran

robert_carnevaleRobert A. “Bobby” Carnevale, 82, of Merrimac, passed away Tuesday March 21, surrounded by his family.

He was born Jan. 17, 1935, son of the late John and Assunta “Susie” (Nardella) Carnevale. He graduated from Beverly High School, class of 1953, and spent 20 years in the United States Air Force, retiring in September of 1977. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars and was awarded the Meritorious Service medal and three Commendation Medals for outstanding service. Upon retirement, he earned a bachelors degree from the School of Lifelong Learning-University of New Hampshire.

He continued to work after retiring from the military and spent years living in Hampton, N.H., before settling in Merrimac. Carnevale was known as a quiet gentleman, devoted husband and caring father to his three children. He was a member of the Italian Community Center, Vittori-Rocci Post, Air Force Sergeants association, the Retired Enlisted Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Carnevale is survived by his wife Patricia (Foote) Carnevale; daughter Cheryl A. Anby and her husband Howard; two sons, Michael A. and his wife Sebrena, and Lawrence A. Carnevale; 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, John and Frederick and wife Linda, sister Rose Cram; several nieces, nephews and good friends. He was predeceased by brothers, Rocci, Thomas and George; sisters, Mary Rugerri, Virginia “Gia” Titony, Elsie Spiliotis, Emma Keenan and Susan Jenness; and his granddaughter Mia Carnevale.

Calling hours are Tuesday, March 28, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Grondin-Carnevale Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill. A private funeral mass and burial will take place followed by Military Honors.
