Haverhill is partnering with HomeWorks Energy, a conservation vendor working with Mass Save, to help households save energy and money.
First unveiled during Tuesday’s City Council meeting, Mayor James J. Fiorentini released details of the plan Wednesday. HomeWorks Energy of Woburn is one of several Mass Save consultants city Purchasing Agent Orlando Pacheco reviewed during a recent request for proposals.
“This optional no cost program will give our residents the opportunity to save money on their energy bills through energy saving initiatives,” Fiorentini said.
During a Home Energy Assessment, an energy specialist checks homes, recommends ways residents may use less energy and install some free measures on the spot. These include free energy-efficient light bulbs, faucet aerators, showerheads, smart power strips and thermostats.
The Mass Save program also includes free air sealing; 75 percent off insulation; rebates on heating, cooling and water heating equipment; and refrigerator recycling with a $50 reward.
“Our program is robust enough that you can work with any vendor you are comfortable with in your home,” said Pacheco.
