D. Jesselyn “Jesse” Driscoll, 81, Former Haverhill Gazette Controller

Jesselyn_DriscollD. Jesselyn “Jesse” Driscoll, 81, of Andover, wife of the late Donald A. Driscoll, passed away March 18, at Atria Marland Place, Andover, surrounded by her family.

Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Mary D. (Harrigan) Surette. She was brought up by her aunt and uncle, Royal and Madeline (Surette) McKinney, with whom she lived since she was a young girl. Driscoll attended Sacred Heart School in Bradford, Haverhill High School (graduated 1953) and McIntosh Business School Lawerence. She spent her career in the newspaper business, starting with the Haverhill Gazette and retiring in 1997 from Scripps League newspapers as a newspaper controller. She lived in Atkinson and Plaistow, N.H., before moving to Andover. She enjoyed hosting the holidays and was known in her family as a great cook and baker. She also enjoyed traveling. She had a strong faith and was a communicant of the St. Luke the Evangelist Church, formerly Holy Angels Church.

She is survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours Saturday, March 25, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., at Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 8 Atkinson Depot Road, Plaistow, N.H. Burial follows in Elmwood Cemetery, Salem Street, Bradford.
