Hollywood personality Tom Bergeron, who began his career at WHAV in 1972, appears via video Thursday night as WHAV formally dedicates its new FM station at 97.9 on the dial.
Besides Bergeron’s reflections, descendants of WHAV founder John T. “Jack” Russ will gather at the ceremony to hear a tribute to the man who first placed WHAV on the air in 1947.
Rick O’Shey, a broadcast veteran who first came to WHAV in 1984, serves as master of ceremonies. Performances by noted soloist Letriah Masters and three members of the Haverhill High School Chorus—Emily Forisso, Joseph Pazzanese and Chloe Reynolds—will also be heard.
WHAV members and distinguished guests are invited to attend the inaugural ceremony, Thursday, March 16, 6 p.m., at Maria’s Galleria Banquet Room, 85 Essex St. The dedication will also be broadcast live at 97.9 FM. Although there is no cost for WHAV members, seating is limited and registration is required. Register online here.
