About 20 percent of Plaistow, N.H., voters are expected to turn out Tuesday for annual town and Timberlane Regional School District elections.
Town clerk Maryellen Pelletier predicted approximately 1,000 of the town’s 5,000 registered voters will cast ballots.
Ten town positions are on the ballot. Six candidates are vying for the three positions on the Budget Committee, and two candidates are running for one open selectman position. Both posts are for a three-year-term.
There are also close to two dozen articles and zoning amendments on the warrant for voters to consider. Among them are approval of a collective bargaining agreement negotiated between the town and Teamsters Local 633. The two-year agreement covers a number of the town’s employees and includes a 4 percent wage increase in 2017, and a 3 percent increase in 2018. A citizen’s petition is also on the ballot regarding “the continuation of the current town manager plan.”
There are three posts up for grabs on the Timberlane Regional School District ballot. The school committee board seat and the Budget Committee seat each have two contenders. Both committee posts are for three years. One candidate is running unopposed for the School District Moderator position.
There are eight articles on the school district ballot. One addresses the operating budget and another relates to a collective bargaining agreement with school employees. There is also an advisory and nonbinding “Article 8-Vote of Confidence in Timberlane Regional School District Superintendent.”
The polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Voting takes place at The Pollard School, 120 Main St.
