The new Caleb Dustin Hunking School will be the setting for Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini’s annual State of the City address next Tuesday night.

The mayor said using the new $61.5 million school as a backdrop enables him to show the building and “highlight the importance of education to our city.”

“The new Hunking School is a perfect place to give the State of the City. As part of the speech, we will give a virtual tour of the school. The multi-media presentation will highlight our tremendous progress, our opportunities and challenges that await us that we will be prepared to tackle.”

Hunking School opened to students of the old school just before Christmas, last year.

Besides education, Fiorentini said, he plans to discuss, what he called, “exciting new initiatives” to be undertaken during the coming year as well as some challenges.

“We have come a long way as a city, but our best days lie ahead,” he said in a statement.

The State of the City address takes place Tuesday, March 14, 7 p.m., at the new Hunking School auditorium, 480 S. Main St., Bradford.

  1. This “is” the perfect backdrop for this incompetent mayor!!!!!!!!!!!!

It highlights his total lack of management skills that required the building being built in the first place. Had the mayor had appropriately educated and experienced personnel in place the damage at Hunking would have been detected before the damage became so bad that the entire building had to be torn down.

Hunking School, like the Hale Hospital, is another massive tax boat anchor burdening Haverhill taxpayers. Because of the mayor’s incompetence taxpayers are saddled with another $30Million of debt which was completely avoidable. Add that to the $100Million for the Hale and the mayor has stuck Haverhill taxpayers with over $130Million in debt which could have been prevented had the city had someone with any kind of management expertise.

    • Thank goodness you can pinpoint these issues for us, Jack. I look forward to your running for office this fall so you can demonstrate your competence to the rest of us and show us all that you’re the only one who truly understands the issues Haverhill faces and that you have the common-sense solutions that the city needs.

P.S. I could barely keep a straight face while I typed that last paragraph.

      • Let’s not forget the corrupt mayor charged city taxpayers $300,000 in permitting fees to build the new Hunking School!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jimmy Taxman will be mayor for as long as he wants the job. He’s messed up the city socially by laying out the welcome mat for criminal trespassing drug dealers and rapist from other countries, and his total incompetence and mismanagement regarding economic issues has put the city into a fiscal abyss from which it will never return. No one in their right mind would want the job of Mayor of the City of Haverhill after he’s done holding the job.
