Updated: Police Identify Woman, 58, Killed in Andover Tree Fall

A falling tree in Andover took the life of a 58-year-old North Reading woman Saturday afternoon.

Elizabeth Roszkowski, who was a passenger in a 2007 Toyota Camry driving along route 125 northbound near Wildwood Road, was killed when a tree fell and struck the car, according to Massachusetts State Police. The driver, an as-yet unidentified 58-year-old man from North Reading, also suffered serious, life-threatening injuries. Both were trapped in the automobile and finally removed and taken to Lawrence General Hospital. The woman was later declared dead.

Route 125 was shut down for approximately two hours.

The crash remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police with assistance from troopers from the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Detective Unit for Essex County.

  1. Such a tragic situation. What are the odds of being hit with a falling tree. This is the second accident this week of a tree killing someone. Prayers to all of the family.

    • How many of us have all driven through this area? There is still a family member seriously ill, who has lost his wife. Strength to the family, and tell me what I can do does not go far. No one expects a tragedy like this. Friends and neighbors, this is a call to you. Trust me no one wants to ask for help. The family needs you now not when things are going well.
