Plaistow Man, 34, Dies in Late-Night Andover Crash

A 34-year-old Plaistow, N.H., man was killed late Saturday night on Interstate 93 in Andover after a three-vehicle crash along northbound lanes.

Massachusetts State Police said the unidentified man was driving a 2001 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck, which went off the roadway and into the woods before Exit 42 sometime after 11 p.m. Drivers of two other vehicles—a 2007 Honda Civic and a 2006 Ford F150 pickup—were not injured, but the vehicles received minor damage.

Police, dispatched from the Andover barracks, were alerted to the crash by numerous 911 calls.

Troopers from the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section responded to assist with the investigation. Andover Fire Department and Massachusetts Department of Transportation assisted at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Two Injured in Earlier Haverhill Crash

Earlier Saturday afternoon, a 32-year-old Seabrook, N.H., man, and his passenger—a 24-year-old Haverhill woman—received “serious injuries” after a crash on Interstate 495 north at Exit 50 in Haverhill.

State Police, dispatched from Newbury, said the 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck, in which they were riding, inexplicably left the highway around 4:15 p.m. and struck a tree, according to a preliminary investigation by Trooper Patrick McCrave. The unidentified driver and passenger were taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

No charges have yet been filed as the crash remains under investigation by the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section. State Police were assisted on scene by Haverhill Fire and EMS and Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
