Paula J. (Sweeney) Dennis, 74, of Haverhill, wife of the late Edward J. Dennis, passed away Friday, Feb. 17, at Hannah Duston Healthcare, Haverhill, surrounded by her family.
Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Ellen J. (Herring) Sweeney. Raised and educated in Haverhill, she was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1961. She was a licensed practical nurse and worked in healthcare for many years. She also worked at Raytheon and then Consolidated Containers, where she retired from in 2008. After retirement, she enjoyed spending her winters in Florida, liked to bowl, play bingo and loved her scratch tickets. Dennis enjoyed crocheting for her family, especially her grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by her children, Jody A. Wezesa and her husband Jay of Haverhill, Paul E. Dennis and Lisa Darbe of Haverhill and Scott M. Dennis of Haverhill; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Diana, Daniel, Zach, Alex, Dawn and Scott; and a great grandchild, Felicia. She was predeceased by her brother, Paul J. Sweeney Jr.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours Wednesday, Feb. 22 from 4 to 7 p.m., at Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services are Thursday, 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial follows in St. James Cemetery, Primrose Street, Haverhill.
