College-bound students who have continuously attended Haverhill public schools between grades 5 and 12 are eligible to receive the Haverhill Education Association’s annual scholarship.

Haverhill Education Association, the union representing teachers, clerical unit and education support personnel, has awarded scholarships for five years, totaling nearly $10,000. Scholarships are awarded directly to students at the beginning of their first semesters.

“The generous award is raised by our members to symbolize the commitment Haverhill’s educators make to the continued success of our students every single day,” union members said in a statement. “As educators, we strive to help every student become a lifelong learner.”

Grants are paid for by Haverhill teachers who collect the money during the school year. The scholarship will be formally presented during the union’s annual dinner Wednesday, May 17. Massachusetts Teachers Association President Barbara Madeloni will be the speaker.

To apply, students must download the application from haverhill.massteacher.org/scholarship and send it with all required documentation to HEA Scholarship, 800 Broadway #3, Haverhill, MA 01832. Qualified candidates may also access the application at Haverhill High School from the online scholarship system or the guidance department. All applications must be postmarked by April 14.
