Dawn Marie (Schena) Somers, 46, of Hampstead, N.H., and formerly of Haverhill, wife of David R. Somers, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, at home. surrounded by her family.
Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of Joseph and Julie (Parker) Schena of Haverhill. Raised and educated in Haverhill, she was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1988. She attended the nursing program at Northern Essex Community College. She was a registered nurse and was employed at Parkland Medical Center in Derry, N.H., for 15 years and also worked for Northeast Rehabilitation in Salem, N.H. She loved living lakeside with her family. She enjoyed walking, especially with the many dogs she cared for. Somers was civic minded and volunteered for many events for her son’s schools and for the Town of Hampstead. She was very involved with her sons playing football during their youth years and was also an active member of her community at large.
In addition to her husband, David, and her parents, she is survived by her two sons, Jacob D. Somers of Hampstead, N.H., and Luke J. Somers of Lowell; brothers, Joseph Schena and his wife Stefanie of Wisconsin, Philip Schena of Amesbury, Thomas Schena and his wife Naomi of Texas, and Peter Schena and his wife Virginia “Ginny” Schena of Haverhill; mother-i- law Judith Nault of Amesbury; and her large extended family.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours Thursday, Feb. 23, from 3 to 7 p.m., at Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services begin Friday at 10 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anne Parish, 26 Emerson Ave., Hampstead, N.H. Burial is private and at a later date.
