State Police Find Methuen Sex Offender in Puerto Rico

Massachusetts State Police most wanted poster.

One of the Massachusetts State Police most wanted sex offenders, accused of assaulting a woman pushing a baby stroller in Methuen, was captured Tuesday in Puerto Rico.

Troopers from the State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section had tracked Lenny E. Santiago, 35, to Pennsylvania and ultimately to Puerto Rico.

Troopers requested assistance from the United States Marshals Service in Puerto Rico. After a brief investigation, U.S. Marshals located Santiago at the Hogar Cristo Pobre Shelter in the city of Ponce and took him into custody. He was charged as a fugitive from justice and is awaiting extradition.

He is classified as a high risk level 3 sex offender, and was wanted for failure to register as a sex offender. He is required to register as a result of his 2002 conviction on two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person age 14 or older and three counts of open and gross lewdness and lascivious behavior. In that case, police said, Santiago assaulted three women—two joggers and a third pushing a baby stroller, in Methuen.

With Santiago’s capture, all six on the State Police’s most want list as of last July are now in custody.

  1. It’s not the place of the legislature to issue a public statement about fugitives.

Methuen enjoys the leadership of a competent, caring, and , aggressive Police Chief. Maybe ,just maybe ,there are some things about apprehending fugitives and police investigations that you don’t know about Jack.

Honestly, the less you talk the smarter you sound.

    • I know for an absolute FACT that police chief you reference has instituted a ticket writing quota for Methuen department personnel. That decision was passed down to him by your equally incompetent neighboring mayor to support his failing liberal administration. He must have gotten that idea from you when you bought a city vehicle in Haverhill and hired employees to ticket as many visitors and homeowners in downtown Haverhill.

I also know for a FACT that in Haverhill and surrounding communities crimes similar to this are going unreported for political purposes.

Yea, the Co-Chair of PUBLIC SAFETY for the entire State Of Massachusetts stands by as women are being raped in the cities she represents and 13 year old girls are getting snatched literally off the streets of Lawrence as they walk to school and then raped by criminal trespassers illegally in this country and liberals like you see no problem with her silence. It doesn’t get any more disgusting than that.

  2. Where are the public statements from the Methuen state reps warning women about the sex crimes being committed in their districts? As women, aren’t they suppose to be looking out for their female constituents? Dean-Campbell, who also represents Haverhill, holds the position of Co-Chair on the State House’s committee on public safety.
That’s right….PUBLIC SAFETY!!! She has yet to say one word about this, or the two criminal trespassers in this country illegally who dragged a teen age girl into the woods in Haverhill and raped her a few months ago.

Campbell must think she’s doing a great job because she voted herself a huge pay raise this week.
    It’s unbelievable….
