Maxine H. Ratte, 79, Registered Nurse

maxine_ratteMaxine H. Ratte, 79, passed away peacefully at Wingate at Haverhill, Jan.

Ratte was born in Haverhill, Aug. 2, 1937, daughter of the late Dr. Arthur A. and Henriette (Biale) Ratte. She was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1955. She later graduated from the Children’s Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, in 1958, and later Boston College School of Nursing.

She worked as a registered nurse at Children’s Hospital in Boston, Cambridge Public Health Department and Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence. Ratte continued her commitment to nursing by working private duty nursing and later served as a Monitor for Laidlaw Transportation Company until her retirement in 2008. A devout Catholic, she attended Sacred Hearts Parish in Bradford and served on the church’s Spirit Committee for several years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America-Court 864 and enjoyed participating as a member of the Sacred Hearts Parish Activities and Programs Committee. She was a member of The Women’s City Club of Haverhill, and enjoyed being involved in the church and city communities she cared so much about.

She is survived by several cousins and many friends she made throughout her life.

Visiting hours are Tuesday, Jan. 10, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Grondin-Carnevale Funeral Home, 52 Salem St., Bradford. A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, Jan. 11, 11 a.m., from Sacred Hearts Parish, 165 South Main St., Bradford. Burial takes place at Elmwood Cemetery, Salem Street, Bradford. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent in Maxine’s memory to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, 34 Washington Street, Suite 200, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
