Plaistow Police Make Arrest Connected to Drug Overdose Death

A Kingston, N.H., resident was to be arraigned Friday on charges that she provided a fatal dose of drugs to a woman found dead in a Plaistow, N.H., store parking lot.

Plaistow detectives Ryan Garney and Edward Lukas arrested Kara Welch, 26, after a seven-week investigation following the death of Sharon Zirpolo of Derry, NH.

Zirpolo died on Nov. 12, of a drug overdose in the parking lot of Cumberland Farms in Plaistow.

According to a statement from the Plaistow police, Lukas and Garney identified the people who were communicating with Zirpolo shortly before her death and discovered information leading to Welch as the person responsible for providing the drugs that killed Zirpolo.

Welch was charged with one count of sale of a controlled drug resulting in death, which is a Class-A felony. She was held at the Rockingham County Jail in Brentwood, N.H., in advance of her arraignment in Plaistow District Court.

According to Plaistow police, Newton, Kingston and Derry police, as well as the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department Drug Task Force, helped with the investigation.
