A 25-year-old, Lawrence man is the second person to be arrested in connection with a home invasion Monday night on Arlington Street.

Samuel Baez was taken into custody by police early Tuesday afternoon after a warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of kidnapping, home invasion, assault on a family/household, armed and masked robbery, stalking, witness intimidation and conspiracy.

Paulino Benitez, 40, of Amesbury, whom police say was armed, was arrested at the scene of a home invasion report at 6:20 p.m., Monday. However, Massachusetts State Police helicopters and a K-9 unit searched the area for another suspect to the panic of neighbors. Police have said, however, they believe the home invasion was “targeted” and the public was not at risk of random attack.

Benitez was arraigned on charges of armed and masked robbery, home invasion, armed burglary, armed assault in a dwelling, assault and battery, kidnapping, witness intimidation and conspiracy.
