Methuen Police Seek Suspect in Robbery at Santander Bank Branch

Methuen police say the man in this photo robbed a Santander Bank branch on Merrimack Street Wednesday afternoon.

Methuen police are searching for a man who robbed a local bank just after noon on Wednesday.

Police responded at 12:10 to a report that Santander Bank at 125 Merrimack St. had been robbed.

“Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect passed a note to the teller and fled with an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect did not show a weapon,” said a statement from Chief Joseph Solomon.

The statement described the man as older, white, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, gray plaid jacket, jeans, dark sneakers and a black Giants baseball cap. He may have fled in an older model, blue Dodge Intrepid, last seen on Route 213 heading toward Interstate 93, the statement said.
