Carol A. (Chandler) Welch, 76, DAR Regent

Carol A. (Chandler) Welch, 76, of Kingston, N.H., and formerly of Haverhill, died Dec. 25, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. She was the wife of Rep. David Allen Welch.

Born in Ware, July 10, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Cyril and Dorothy (Turner) Chandler. She graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1958, and continued her education at Northern Essex Community College. She joined the Daughters of the American Revolution in 2005. She served as Regent of the Exeter Chapter of the DAR since 2015, having served as the Chapter Vice Regent for three years. Welch was fond of American History and volunteered at The American Independence Museum, The Fort at Four Museum in Charlestown, N.H., and was a member of First Newmarket Militia. She was a reenactor of American History depicting colonial life with Dearborn’s Company, and a member of the Dover Militia demonstrating colonial homemaking in various New Hampshire and Massachusetts schools.

Besides her husband of 34 years, she leaves her children, Robert Beals, Irene Beals, Scott Chandler, Susan Smith and husband James; step-children Rick Welch, Patrick Welch, Charles Welch, and Leilani Donahue and her husband Russell; 22 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughters, Elizabeth and Cheryl Beals, and step-son Michael Welch.

Services at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill are private. Burial is in the spring at Greenwood Cemetery. At the family’s request there will be no calling hours.
