School Notes: Special-Ed Efforts Move from Garden to the Gym

Education support professional Nancy Burke is best known for creating an award-winning courtyard garden at Haverhill High School.

Burke is a resource for students who need extra support in their educational program, no matter their interests. Recently, Burke turned her attention to kids who have physical limitations that affect the way they can participate in gym.

The HHS Student Council recently awarded Burke $300 to buy weights and bands for the adaptive gym class in the multi-support classroom where she works.

Burke has received national recognition for her efforts.
