Galen A. Stalker, 95, Worked at Boston and Maine Railroad

Galen A. Stalker, 95, of Plaistow, N.H., and formerly of Haverhill, passed away Dec. 24, at Lawrence General Hospital.

Born in his home on Sweet Hill Road, Haverhill, Aug. 9, 1921, He was the son of the late William D. and Annie C. Stalker. Stalker graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1939. In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a seaman first class, serving onboard the USS Barnett during World War II, where he participated in the historic invasion of Okinawa. Honorably discharged in 1945, he became a member of the Carl G. Davis Post #34 of the American Legion in Plaistow, N.H. Following his discharge he was employed as a brakeman by the Boston and Maine Railroad until his retirement.

He leaves his daughter, Gail J. Lewis and her husband Steven W. Lewis of Atkinson, N.H.; daughter-in-law, Sandra Carriker and her husband Russell; grandchildren, Kelly Scott and her husband Severin, Susan Dunn, Jason Lewis and his wife Katherine, Garrick Lewis and his wife Jessica; great grandchildren, Chase and Lillyanna Dunn, Keiran and Callum Scott, Savannah and Jackson Lewis and Tristan Lewis, as well as, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Marian Herrick Stalker and his second wife Ann Roback Stalker, his son, Bruce R. Stalker, brothers, Argyle and Gilbert Stalker, sisters, Muriel Keezer, Margaret Devine and Jean Hyde.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours Tuesday, Dec. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Dole, Childs and Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services are Wednesday, Dec. 28, 10 a.m., at First Baptist Church, Plaistow, N.H. Burial takes place in the spring at Hills Farm Cemetery, Hudson, N.H.
