barbara_vareschiBarbara A. (Seery) Vareschi, 71, of Andover  and previously of Haverhill, passed away Dec. 17, at her home where she resided for the last 13 years.

Born in North Adams, she was the daughter of the late Myles M. and Madelyn V. (Duval) Seery and stepdaughter of Frederick J. Cross. She was a graduate of Beverly High School, class of 1963. She received her bachelor’s in history from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, in 1992, with aspirations of pursuing a career in education. Vareschi was a financial controller who dedicated much of her later career to SBANE, Waltham and Infinity Tapes, Lawrence. Her love of history, art, music and culture led her to explore museums in Boston, plantations in the southern United States, and the estates in Paris, France. She was an insatiable reader, a fierce scrabble contender, enjoyed playing cards and attending little known films.

Vareschi is survived by her daughters, Kirstin V. Brown of Wakefield, Courtney G. Vareschi and Matthew B. Woelfel of North Andover; two sisters, Gail Weyant and her husband Dennis of Roslindale and Carolyn Paris and her husband Robert of Goffstown, N.H.; a brother, James Cross; five grandchildren, Josiah W. Brown, Noah E. Brown, Hadley Vareschi-Woelfel, William Vareschi-Woelfel and Henry Vareschi-Woelfel.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours Thursday, Dec. 22, from 3 to 5:30 p.m., at Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill.
