High Street Developer’s Request to Add Apartments Before Council

A High Street developer seeks to add two more apartments to a previously issued special permit.

The Haverhill City Council is expected Tuesday to revisit a request by 13 High St. Realty Trust and applicant Ronald T. Romanowski’s previous requests to allow a total seven units. The council approved five.

Postponed from last week’s meeting, councilors are to hold a public hearing on a modified special permit request, submitted two months ago by Romanowski of Woburn. Planning Director William Pillsbury recommended the council approve, what he termed, a “minor” special permit modification.

“The plans indicate that adequate parking is available. The plans also indicate that adequate space is available within the structure to accommodate the additional units. The City departments reviewed the modification request and no objections were received,” Pillsbury said. Input from the water maintenance department suggested resubmission of a water service application to reflect changes to a fire sprinkler system, including its size and the number of fixtures for the additional units.
