West Newbury Man Taken to Hospital After Fall From Tree

A West Newbury man is in a Boston hospital with serious injuries after he fell out of a tree Thursday afternoon at a local hunting ground.

West Newbury firefighters found the 55-year old man, whose identity was not released, conscious and alert around 3:3o p.m. in the Crane Pond Wildlife Management Area, said West Newbury Fire Chief Michael Dwyer.

He said the victim fell about 20 feet from a tree located about 150 yards off Ash Street in West Newbury. He was transported by helicopter to Tufts Medical Center, Boston, Dwyer said.

West Newbury police, Groveland fire and Atlantic Ambulance, Newburyport assisted in the rescue.
