Andover Police: Community Not in Danger After North Main Street Shooting

Police in Andover say two men seriously wounded in a double shooting at a local duplex Thursday night may have been specifically targeted.

According to police, the two victims, both Andover residents in their 20s, arrived at an area hospital Thursday, about 10:22 p.m., with a friend who had driven them there. Andover police Chief Patrick E. Keefe told WHAV investigators determined they were shot at a duplex home on North Main Street in Andover. Police do not believe it was a random act of violence and said they are working to determine a suspect or suspects and a motive.

“We do not believe that there is any danger to the community at large,” Keefe said. “Right now, this investigation is just beginning and we greatly appreciate everyone’s patience while the victims are tended to and we work to determine who is responsible for this act of violence in our community.”

Andover police are investigating with assistance from Lawrence police detectives and State Police assigned to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office and the Crime Scene Services Section.
