Haverhill fire investigators believe careless disposal of smoking materials caused minor damage Saturday to a third-floor porch at a multifamily dwelling at 21 Tenth Ave.
No injuries were reported in the 11:49 a.m. incident and crews arrived on scene to find a resident putting water on the smoldering porch fire, Fire Chief William F. Laliberty told WHAV. All residents were able to return after the fire, which caused an estimated $200 in damage to the porch.
Haverhill police also assisted at the scene.
