Jeannette Madelaine Lachance, 92, Former Shoe Worker

jeannette_lachanceJeannette Madelaine Lachance, 92, of Haverhill, born and educated in Saint Robert Bellarmine, Beauce County, PQ, Canada, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers.

She immigrated to the United States at the age of 20, worked in the Haverhill shoe factories, and later was employed as a tester by Lucent Technologies.  Lachance retired after 33 years of service. She was one of 14 children born to Georges and Delia (Gagne) Lachance, and often shared memories of her childhood on the farm in Canada. She participated daily at All Saints Church, Haverhill.

She leaves her brothers Rene, of St. Robert Bellarmine, St. Ludger Beauve PQ Canada, Florent, and his wife Monique (Moreau), of Laval PQ Canada, and Reginald, and his wife Jocelyne of Hollywood Hills, Fla.; sisters, Aline Poirier and her husband Roland of Haverhill, Georgette Lachance of Mount Clemens Mich., and Marcelle Brosseau of Boisbriand, Canada; nephews, George, John, Daniel, and Carl Poirier; niece, Lorraine King; grandnephews Jared, Drew and Ethan; and many nephews and nieces in New Hampshire, Florida, Michigan, and Canada. She was predeceased by her brothers Adrien, Gedeon, Fernand, and Adari, and sisters Irene Mercier, and Dianne Lambert, all of Canada, and Cecile Jacques of Hampton Beach, N.H.

Relatives and friends may call Monday, Dec. 5, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway Haverhill. Her Mass of Christian burial tales place at 11 a.m., in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave., Haverhill, followed by burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
